Jacobsen and Scott Brame, senior project manager with W.M. Jordan, The Culpeper’s general contractor, provided residents with a detailed project update on Jan. 3.
The 125,000-square-foot expansion, expected to open in early 2019, will replace the current building with 133 new apartments and a number of other modern enhancements.
The work is progressing on schedule, Brame said, outlining for residents a list of items that have been completed. Specifically, the concrete walls are substantially complete along with the concrete slab on the garden level, Brame said. The construction crew has also erected the panelized load bearing wall system and completed the elevated concrete slab at the terrace level. Most stair and elevator shafts are also complete and steel stairs have been installed.
In coming weeks, the remaining terrace level concrete slabs will be installed along with the second story prefabricated load-bearing wall panels, Brame said. Window installation at the garden level, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing rough-ins will begin soon. The crew will also finish the fire line relocation near Cottage Road and get the roadway back on grade.
“We are pleased with the progress and look forward to moving into our new home in early 2019, ” Jacobsen said. “Residents, staff and families continue to be very excited about the project.”
