December 18: COVID-19 Update
On December 18, The Culpeper’s management team became aware of a team member who tested positive for COVID-19. The team member is a direct care team member within the healthcare center. The team member became symptomatic on December 16 and received a positive rapid test on Friday, December 18. This team member is self-quarantining at home per the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) guidance until return-to-work criteria is met. Contact tracing revealed that the team member had no direct contact with residents or other team members.
All residents in the rehab to home neighborhood are still on isolation and healthcare residents continue to be tested weekly, per VDH recommendations. The Culpeper team is closely monitoring all residents in the healthcare, assisted living and memory support neighborhoods. Both VDH and all licensing agencies were notified of the positive result. Team member testing will continue twice a week in the healthcare center due to the county positivity rate.
Visitation remains suspended until further notice for all main building residents to include outdoor visits and memory support courtyard visits. Zoom, Skype and window visits will continue with appropriate reservations. Communal dining and activities continue accordingly. All residents are discouraged from community outings other than medically necessary appointments. The Culpeper’s team urges all residents and team members to keep in mind the ongoing high community positivity rate and proceed cautiously with daily activities.
