February 8: COVID-19 Update
The Culpeper’s management team is pleased to report that all residents in all levels of care tested negative for COVID-19 during baseline testing on Thursday, February 4. However, the team became aware of two isolated incidents of team members who tested positive for COVID-19 on February 4.
One direct care team member who works in the healthcare center and had not worked since January 28 tested positive. The team member is quarantining at home until return-to-work criteria are met per the Virginia Department of Health (VDH). Contact tracing did not reveal any additional potential exposures. The second was a non-direct care team member who tested positive works in assisted living. Contact tracing revealed that the team member did not have close contact with any residents, but another non-direct care team member was identified. Both team members are quarantining at home until return-to-work criteria are met per VDH.
All licensing agencies and VDH have been notified. All team members will be tested today, February 8. Residents in the healthcare center continue to be tested weekly. Beginning this week, all assisted living residents in the main building will not require testing due to the previous two consecutive weeks of negative test results.
Residents continue to quarantine in the healthcare center, assisted living and memory support neighborhoods. Communal dining and activities continue to be suspended throughout the community. Visitation remains suspended for all residents in the main building. Independent living cottage residents are not permitted into the main building until further notice. The Culpeper’s management team is working diligently with the VDH in the hopes of reducing quarantine protocols soon.
The Culpeper team continues to be persistent with proper infection control to manage the spread of the virus. Please continue wearing masks covering the nose and mouth, socially distance and practice proper hand hygiene.
Last but certainly not least, and on a positive note, The Culpeper’s second coordinated vaccination clinic with Walgreens Pharmacy was a success on Wednesday, February 3. All consenting residents and team members were provided vaccinations.
